The Naval Museum Was Awarded the Gold Badge of Honour “For Services to Varna”
Yesterday, 15th of August, with an official ceremony, the Municipality of Varna presented the Naval Museum with the gold badge of honour “For Services”, for its now centennial presence in the cultural life of the sea capital, throughout which it had asserted itself as a foremost public institution.
The award was accepted by the Museum’s director, Dr. Mariana Krasteva. She expressed her gratefulness and dedicated it to the people who had made the decisive steps and organized the first collection in Ruse, 140 years ago, as well as to those who 100 years ago, in Varna, opened the Maritime Museum. Dr. Krasteva thanked also the team of the Museum, as well as all its supporters. Today, the Naval Museum, as a part of the large family of the National Museum of Military History, carries out its important mission to preserve and present to the public the Bulgarian maritime heritage.
