Library

Pride of the Naval museum is its library. Its rich fund comprises editions on general, military and naval history and reference literature as well as encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc. It disposes of over 10 000 volumes of books and over 4 500 periodical editions. Some of its most valuable collections are : the Russian magazine “Naval collection (from 1885 to the 90-ies of the 20th c.), “Newspaper Europe” (from 1885 to the beginning of the 20th c.), the complete file of the magazine “Naval agreement” (1924-1943)

The reader can also make use of the magazines : “Military periodical ” “Naval review” , “Military historical collection”, “Shipbuilding and navigation”, “Naval newspaper”, “Ocean club”, “Lighthouse” almanac and many other specialized periodical editions.

The library is an inheritor of the preserved from the fund of the first library of the Officer’s meeting in the Danube flotilla, created in the 80-ies of the XIX c. Today it completes its fund with subscriptions, purchase and donations. Donors are former museum employees who consign their author’s books or part of their personal libraries, inheritors of eminent marine personalities, friends of the museum. Books and annuals send episodically as well ,different museums from the country.

Conceived and created as a popular specialized Naval library, today it hands down the tradition. It is visited by sailors, officers, students, citizens, museum employees, explorers of our naval and military historical history. Forthcoming is the elaboration of electronic catalogues for assuagement the work of the users.
