The Naval Museum Celebrates Bulgarian Navy Day with Free Admission and Film Screenings
To celebrate Bulgarian Navy Day, on 9 August (Sunday), the Naval Museum will welcome visitors with free admission. The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with last admission at 5:30 p.m.
On this special day, visitors will be able to view the Naval Museum’s permanent exhibition, which traces the history of the Bulgarian Navy from its establishment to the present day, as well as the temporary exhibition “The Hot Year of 1916: The War for Dobruja”, presenting the battles fought 110 years ago to reclaim Bulgarian territories in Northern and Southern Dobruja and the Navy’s role in supporting land operations.
Especially for the celebration, visitors to the Museum will also have the opportunity to have movie meetings with the heroes of the Navy. The screenings will start at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the “Morski Sgovor” Hall at the Naval Museum. Each of the two screening sessions will feature three documentaries dedicated to the Bulgarian Navy: “The Danube Flotilla, 1885”, “Drazki” and “The Navy 1915–1918” (each runs for approximately 40 minutes, with a break of around 10 minutes between screenings). The films were produced by the team of the Military Television Channel with the support of the National Museum of Military History and its branch, the Naval Museum, and for filming were used authentic documents and photographs, as well as historical reconstructions, that portrayed the Navy’s participation in the wars for national unification.
Through this programme, the Naval Museum offers visitors an opportunity to experience the rich maritime heritage and the history of the Bulgarian Navy.
