The Pilot-2 cutter welcomes visitors aboard
Now you can climb aboard the Pilot-2 cutter. All those who might be curious about the interior of the crew’s workstation are invited to satisfy their curiosity. Pilots would have used her to board approaching vessels and ensure they reach safely the assigned wharfs. Pilots, also called leadsman, i.e. “the one who knows the depths”, would steer the ships into the ports or through narrow and dangerous passages.
In the cabin of Pilot -2, “passengers” could see the equipment, enter the machine room, or peak into the crew’s berthing space. They would be introduced to the International Code of Signals and other, key to the sailor’s life rules. A special video would introduce you to the work of the Varna sea pilots and the challenges they face.
We welcome you during the exhibition’s visiting hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 through 18:00 (the ticket office closes at 17:30). The ticket is worth BGN 4.00, in addition to museum’s admission.
